Caldera -NOMADIC ESCAPE

Sunday, April, 29th 2023.

Today, I went to ‘Caldera Nomadic Escape’. It was pretty a surprise, because after me and my parents went to the church, we decided (which happened so quickly) to go to Caldera.

We had been there before two years ago, but without oppung (dad’s namboru).

Caldera Nomadic Escape is famous because, Indonesia’s president, Mr Joko Widodo, and his wife, Mrs Iriana Widodo, visited and sat on two seats with a fantastic view of Lake Toba.

Mr Oppung Luhut Pandjaitan also visited and took a nice picture with the Caldera sign.

After changing clothes, we headed there. It was a nice ride, and we were lucky we got VIP parking, for fifty-thousand rupiahs.

As I went out, goodness, it was amazing. So much to explore! There was a restaurant with a nice view; sliced ice cream from Singapore; electric bikes; the seats of Mr and Mrs Widodo (people like to take pictures there, for they knew Mr and Mrs Widodo’s butt-cheek marks are still there until now); a festival that had a VIP visitor, wanting to sing called Jun Munthe; a little shop called DiTenun, made by Del and sold lots of clothes, also can be from our own design.

First, we ate sliced ice cream which came all the way from Singapore. It’s sliced ice cream which is put in bread. I chose mint, my parents chose oreo and my sister and oppung chose vanilla. It drizzled afterwards, so we sheltered at the tent which sold hats, bags and even dream-catchers. I saw the bags, which were pretty cute. They also went with hats, but decided to buy a little handbag. Pretty cute (cuz it’s the shape of Minnie Mouse’s ears and bow).

Next, we went to DiTenun. It sold clothes, ulos and many weavings. My parents even decided to change clothes just to wear new ones there! Even my oppung decided to buy a new bottle for her son. I chose a little, cute purse for cards and money.

Then we had lunch at a restaurant next to the VIP parking. I had Fettucini Carbonara, and, however, I met, the one and only, Jun Munthe!!! He’s famous for making ‘Haholongan’, my parents’ favourite song. We took a few photos and finally, we went to see the festival.

It was lovely, but Jun Munthe showed up a bit late. We had to go halfway. We were upset, because we couldn’t see him sing Haholongan, but it was amazing!

If anyone is finding a place for a holiday, may I recommend, Caldera, nomadic escape!
