Gangsta Granny by David Williams

There was a boy called Ben Herbert who just lost his granny a year ago. Last year, they had stolen the crown jewels. They met a few people, as in a stalker called Mr Parker, a police officer named PC Fudge, and including the Queen herself.

One day Ben watched as his parents were dancing. His mum twisted his dad by the ankles, but accidently let go. So his dad had a knee injury.

His parents were supposed to perform a dance in the Royal Albert Hall. But now that Mrs Herbert hasn’t a partner, she’ll have to find another one. She suggested of Ben, but he wouldn’t like it if he was caught dancing with his weirdo mom.

Meanwhile there had been three crimes at the time. The mask of pharoah Tutankhamun, stolen from the British Museum; the World Cup, stolen from Wembley Stadium; and the Queens Waxwork, stolen from Madame Tussauds.

Ben went to the library to do some research on those places. While searching, the librarian snatched the books he was holding and went to phone Mr Parker, saying some suspicious things about Ben.

Ben did not want to have a chat with Mr Parker. He ran away quickly…But he was caught by the police. Unfortunately the librarian, who was Mr Parker’s sister, had called the police, but with saying that Ben had borrowed library books without getting them stamped.

To get out of his mum’s anger, he gave up and said to his mum that he will go to the Royal Albert Hall as her dance partner.

So, just as soon, he and his mum went to the Hall. He in an iceberg costume. She dressed as the RMS Titanic. They were going to be dancing with the song My Heart Will Go On.

The Queen was there, and the greatest dancer: Flavio Flavioli. Although everything went wrong. Mum span so hard she flew in the air and landed on Flavio’s feet.

Ben fell of the stage and ran quickly to the Queen. But in fact, it was no Queen, just the stolen waxwork of the queen!

Ben felt like it, so he went to the Tower of London. To his surprise, he saw the Queen trying to steal her own jewels.

The Queen explained to Ben that she also stole the mask of King Tut, the World Cup, and even her own waxwork.

She and Ben quickly returned the stolen treasures, with the help of a newsagent, Raj, right before the next day.

Early morning the next day, Ben creeped up to his house. He knew his parents wouldn’t even care. But to his surprise, his parent rushed him into a hug. Ben could now feel their love for him, it was just like how his granny loved him.

A Tale of Magic by Chris Colfer

In this world, out of earth, magic is strictly forbidden. Although in the Southern Kingdom, beautiful fairy called Madame Weatherberry insisted on taking the magical children in the kingdom under her wing and teach them how to control their magic in her school near the in-between. The purpose was that so she and her students could fight off the Snow Queen, who had been doing a lot of damage in the Northern Kingdom. If they were too late, the whole world would be covered in a snowy ice-land. She asked King Champion, who firstly disagreed and wanted to keep on what he did with those young fairies. In the Southern Kingdom, if you caught someone doing magic, they would be sent to hard labour. But with hard pleading, King Champion agreed and off Madame Wheatherberry went to find fairies in need. Here is where our protagonist (main character) comes in. Whilst being a maid in a library, Brystal Evergreen found a secret room with banned books inside. Curious she opened a book about magic and an incantation: Elsune elknoon ahkelle-enama, delmune dalmoon ahktelle-awknamon.

Therefore, she found out she was a fairy. Puzzled, she tried the incantation several times. Though on the third time, she was caught by the librarian. She was eventually sent to work in hard labour at the Bootstrap Correctional Facility for Troubled Young Women.

After a week there, Brystal was tired and looked dull. She was about to be thrown in the river, just as Madame Wheatherberry came. She asked Brystal to join her school, Madame        Weatherberry’s Magical Academy, as she was a fairy. There she met a few more students. Just like her, they were fairies. They were Tangerina Turkin, Skylene Lavenders, Xanthous Hayfield, Emerelda Stone and Lucy Goose. Out of all, Brystal seemed to be the most powerful. A few weeks later, Madame Wheatherberry had been disappearing here and there, eventually going away with no warning. Brystal and her fellow classmates were worried that she had went to the Northern Kingdom to fight off the Snow Queen. After crossing the forest of the eerie in-between, which was filled with all sorts of dangerous creatures, like trolls, goblins, elves, ogres, etc, and a garden with wonderful wildlife plants, they succeeded to the Northern Kingdom. Brystal quickly went to the ice palace to investigate. There she saw King Nobleton of The Northern Kingdom sitting on the dining table, frozen as ice along with his whole family.

Suddenly the Snow Queen stormed in angry as ever. Then Brystal recognized the beam in the Snow Queens glazed eyes. She kicked her and she fell lazily against the wall. She, out of all people, was Madame Weatherberry. She explained to Brystal that all her burdens in her made the Snow Queen and that the Snow Queen lives inside her. Brystal shook her head in disbelief. She quickly advised her teacher to go and hide in the caves and send the Northern lights to them to make sure that she was alright. If the lights go off, the Snow Queen had come back, fully. So Brystal and her classmates will go and attack once again.

From then on, Brystal became the new headmistress of the academy and more magical children were sent to learn how to control their magic there. Brystal and her friends also made demands so that magic were finally bidden in the world and so that all hard labour places for fairies were shut down. They were called “The Fairy Council” until now.
